STOA's verdictFor builders
Ollama is best for small business owners who are a bit tech-savvy and want to run AI tools privately on their own computer without paying monthly fees or sending data to outside servers.
The biggest win is that it's completely free and keeps your business data local, which is great for privacy-sensitive work. The catch is that setup requires some comfort with command-line tools, and you'll need a reasonably powerful computer to get good results.

Ollama needs a developer to set up and use, so we don't give it an owner rating. Here is how each factor looks for a small team that has a developer.
