What it does

Wix is best for small business owners who want to build a professional website without hiring a developer. You can start with one of 2,000+ templates or describe your business and let the AI build a site for you in minutes. From there, you can add online selling, appointment booking, a blog, event ticketing, and more — all from one dashboard. It works well for solo operators and small teams who need a real web presence without a big budget or technical skills.

Strengths

2,000+ templates covering nearly every business type
All-in-one platform: website, eCommerce, bookings, email, and ads
AI site builder gets you a working site in minutes
Free plan lets you test before paying
No coding required for most customizations

Weaknesses

Hard to migrate your site away from Wix once you've built on it
Free plan shows Wix branding and uses a Wix subdomain
Advanced eCommerce features require higher-tier plans at $39+/month
Page load speed can lag on heavily customized sites

Key features

Build a website using drag-and-drop editing or AI-generated site creation
Sell products online with built-in eCommerce, inventory, and order management
Accept bookings and manage your service calendar with scheduling tools
Run email campaigns, social media posts, and Google/Facebook ads from one place
Add a blog, online courses, event ticketing, or portfolio to your site
Get a free custom domain for one year with any paid annual plan

AI features

Wix includes an AI website builder called Aria that can generate a full site from a text description and help you write content, create images, and build out sections on demand. It also uses AI to create email marketing campaigns and optimize your site for search engines.

STOA verdict

Wix is a strong pick for small business owners who need a good-looking website fast and want marketing tools built right in. The biggest pro is how much you can do in one place — website, store, bookings, email, and ads — without needing separate tools. The main downside is that once you build your site on Wix, switching to another platform later is difficult, so you're making a long-term commitment.
